Which Dogs and Cats Should be Professionally Groomed
The answer is simple.…… All of them! All pets need a good brushing and combing daily. Some pets need weekly bathing. Some pets need monthly bathing and/or grooming. Daily brushing helps to keep hair looking nice, massages the skin, loosens dirt, moves oils from hair shaft towards ends, helps to reduce the allergy producing pet dander, and is a good way to spend quality time with each pet individually. Weekly baths remove all dirt and oils from skin and hair, and also removes any loose hair that the pet may be shedding. This is especially a good idea if the pet sleeps with you or is allowed on the furniture. Monthly grooms trim away those unwanted hairs for a nice, neat style that only the owner wants and the pet is proud of.
A few other notes on helping your pet feel healthy. Feed your pet a quality pet food and treat that contains NO WHEAT, CORN, SOY, DAIRY, WHEY, BY-PRODUCTS (meaning hair-beaks-feathers-feet), DYES, ANIMAL (what type of animal) DIGEST (meaning everything from stomach to colon-just a note, why feed your pet another animals problems? Example: Liver, its purpose is to get rid of toxins in the body), ANIMAL FATS, RAWHIDES, PIG EARS, COW HOOVES etc…. Check with your local library (consumers dictionary of food additives or common pet allergies), local natural food dealer, your local groomer, and/or local veterinarian for suggestions. You can check www.nexusmagazine.com/petfood.htm for in-depth information on pet foods. I personally recommend easy to find food: Nutro’s (only certain brands), Natures Recipe (only certain brands), Solid Gold, Happy Paws, and others without those ingredients listed above.
