Need Boarding lor Daycare? Do Your Homework!
Whether going out of town for business or whisking the family away for an adventure, as a pet owner, it can be stressful deciding “what to do with Fluffy” while the family is away. Most parents are apprehensive about leaving their furry friend behind while trying to concentrate on work away from home or simply enjoying time away with the family. Some things to consider when selecting a “home away from home” for your pet:
Is the facility clean and odor-free? First and foremost, proper sanitization practices are paramount to the well-being of your pet. Is waste removed from the area promptly and are the cleaning products safe and non-toxic to pets?
Is the staff friendly when you walk through the door and interested in your pet? Do they encourage you to take a tour for a behind the scenes perspective? Any reputable facility welcomes new clients and encourages them to take an impromptu walk-through to get an accurate picture of how the pets are cared for. Ask questions about potty breaks and activity schedules along with the type of food supplied should your pet run out of his own during his stay.
Do they require all appropriate vaccinations to protect your pet from transferable illnesses? Ask about their practices for flea and overall parasite control? No one enjoys extra passengers accompanying their pet on the way home!
Although it may seem a daunting task, the end result should be a comfortable, enjoyable vacation for both you and your pet!
