Save Some Green And Save A Life!

When families decide to add a pet to their lives, they have a lot of choices. They can get a free pet from an ad in the paper or on Craig’s List. They can go to a breeder or pet store, and pay big bucks for a purebred. Or, the third and best choice would be to visit your local shelter.

When you visit an animal shelter, you will see many wonderful animals just waiting to be adopted. Many of these will be purebreds. At the Humane Society of Tampa Bay we have 150-200 animals in our program that are looking for a second chance. The adoption package includes the pet being spayed or neutered. They will have all age appropriate vaccinations, a physical exam, de-worming, a heartworm test (for dogs) and a FIV/Felk test (for cats). Additionally, the pets will all be microchipped, bathed and have received a flea treatment. You will also receive free pet insurance for the first 30 days.

If you opted to take in a free pet, it would cost you hundreds of dollars to get all of the above procedures done. So that free pet really wasn’t free after all!

When you go to a shelter, on top of saving quite a bit of money, you are also giving homeless animals a second chance. So save a life and some green at the same time - Adopt your next pet!
