Manatee County Animal Services

Manatee County Animal Services (MCAS) mission is to maintain public health and safety through the enforcement of laws and ordinances related to animals. To promote responsible pet ownership, promote adoptions, and reduce pet overpopulation.

The Division of Animal Services enforces the County’s Animal Ordinance and the Florida Laws relating to animals, provides an animal adoption program, picks up and shelters stray, sick and/or injured animals and animals that have bitten someone.

Animal Services works closely with all area shelters, local animal groups and animal welfare organizations. We encourage and support free and low cost spay/neuter programs and partner with the program that greatly reduces the need for the euthanasia of feral cats.

In the event that your pet becomes lost, be sure to have a current license on their collar and have your pet micro chipped. Animal Services Officers will check licenses and will scan your pet with an electronic scanner, making every effort to return your pet home instead of being impounded to the shelter. Updated license and microchip information is of the upmost importance to getting your family pet back home.

You can report your pet missing by contacting the shelter and filing a missing pet report and be sure to monitor our website at for a current list of all animals that are at the shelter including photos of those pets that have been turned in or picked up.

Our pets for adoption can be seen on or you can contact us at 941-742-5933 or visit our website for a list of adoptable pets.
